pancake we love you!
our best friend: pancake nutmeg peapod, our boxer/pit mix - rest sweet dear in peace - passed away june 3, 2008 at 8:15 am after sustaining severe injuries…thank you for all your calls and well wishes. we will always love her and honor her memory…***
we will remember her playfulness, her kindness, her obedience, her love, and her memory of us and the life we shared.
pancake was found on a street where two little boys were selling off a liter. she was the runt that no one would buy. she was going to be put down if someone didn’t take her. so georgia, our dear roommate at the time, brought her home to il corral. she was too young to be separated, and could hardly walk. we didn’t realize how young she was, and none of us had ever raised a puppy, but the four of us, stane, georgia, scott and i tried to give her the best life possible. she even learned to play piano and would perform for us.
all she ever wanted was to be with the pack. she wanted to be near us as much as possible,…she loved us so much.
she was a lover, not a fighter, and she grew up through all the adventures of being an artspace mascot.
our most recent wonderful memories of her were at my family’s house where she was free and safe and happy. she was very smart, very smart, and knew many tricks. her favorite game was catching tennis balls, and she could jump higher and run faster than any dog ever.
my heart is breaking over and over. she did not deserve her death.
the people at the vet knew her from when we first found her. the attendant remembered her name and how sweet she was. he carried her in from the truck. her remains were cremated and she has gone back to the place all living creatures go before they are born.
we did everything we could for her at any given moment.
we will always remember her and love her.
pancake we miss you. thank you for visiting us for your brief life.
you are forever in our memories, and you have taught us so much about how to love.
we will continue to cherish you as our dog, and our best friend.

Stane says: “Pancake, I love you so much.
I know that you are still with us, and that
the things you gave us will stay with us forever.
You were my best friend for so long,
and my first pet I could say was my own and my responsibility.
I learned so much from taking care of you,
and I want you to know that I will always love you
and cherish our memories together, the five of us —–
Scott, Georgia, Pancake, Christie, and Stane.
I especially enjoyed the last month of our lives together,
when Christie, you and I got to have a real vacation,
and I played ball with you every day for hours.
You hardly ever got tired,
and now you even have a lake named after you!
I love you pancakes!!!!!!!!!!!!”

from georgia with love:
Pancake.
My baby. I found you on the street and I knew the only way i could make sure you would be ok was to bring you in to my little family. It worked, we all took care of you, hugged you, kissed you, even taught you piano and you knew that you were loved above every creature.
You taught me how to care for a truly pure soul that needed me, and taught me about simple love.
You were so funny and full of life, I will always remember how much you loved the dog park and wrestling with your best friend, stane. I think of you going crazy and sliding along the floor of Il Corral, and i think of you tucked up in bed with me and Scott.
I miss you all the time sweet puppy, i can’t wait to meet you again when we are all spirits.
